Connectivity Options:
The LIS 1630 supports a variety of connectivity options giving it the flexibility
needed to work in today's complex networks. An internal interface board for Twinax and Coax
connections provides more efficient data transfer rates as data is brought directly into the internal bus,
versus transmission through a protocol converter. A Hot IO(TM) multi-protocol interface board supports two
RS232CC ports with FIFO (First In, First Out) and contains an 8K buffer to move large blocks of data and
minimize interrupts to the microprocessor. The multi-protocol adapter also supports one RS422 port
which is also designed to minimize system interrupts as it uses Direct Memory Access (DMA) to transfer
data from the communication buffer to specific addresses in main memory. The Centronics Parallel port
functions at speeds up to 125K baud at distances up to 6 feet.

Emulation/Font Support:
To handle a wide variety of application requirements, the LIS 1630 is designed
to be compatible with today's popular computing environments by offering multiple emulations and robust
font support. In addition to its own powerful page description language, Kodescript Plus, users can
choose from Line Printer, PCL5 and IBM's Intelligent Printer Data Stream (IPDS) solution. Along with
multiple emulation support, with the LIS 1630 you can choose from thousands of commercially available
typefaces. In addition to PostScript Type 1 fonts, this printer supports True Type and Intellifont formats.
Scalable standard fonts include: ASCII, ASCII Bold, Swiss Medium, OCR-A and OCR-B.

Control Unit Technology:
Representing a new generation of high performance printing, the LIS 1630 is
equipped with a high-speed graphics controller featuring and Intel 486Dx2 66Mhz microprocessor. With
32MB of memory and a 512 Cache, the printer can support output speeds up to 30ppm, even on complex
pages. A 540MB hard drive and floppy disk drive provide flexibility when downloading or storing print
resources. |
Paper Handling:
This printer is an economical model for midrange-level continuous forms printing and
was designed specifically for difficult paper handling applications such as label and tag printing. Using a
dual tractor on each side to secure documents as they move through the paper path, the LIS 1630
provides near perfect registration. It supports media widths up to 16 inches edge to edge and 24 inches
in length. The print area is 14.4" starting from the stationery tractor feed side. There is an imprintable top
and bottom border of1/10 inch. With the ability to handle media thickness of up 11 mils, the printer is able
to print on a variety of document substrates including mylar and some plastics.

Operator Ease of Use/Quality Control:
To ensure quality output no matter where this printer is placed in
your network, the LIS 1630 automatically monitors print quality and provides a user-friendly interface to
operators. Using an 8-line alphanumeric LCD Display with graphical capabilities to assist in operations,
the printer is easy to set-up, store formats and trouble shoot problems. The top of the printer features a
window for visual verification of printed output before it hits the stacker, and toner can be added while the
printer is running. With a few simple keystrokes, operators can generate reports graphically showing
configuration information, a font sampler and the status of supply items. A toner patch on each page
works with Automatic Image Toner and Density Controls to monitor and sustain print contrasts to insure
bar codes and data print at optimum density. |
